BhashaSetu is an open-source project building two-way Indian Sign Language translation, run by a small team in India. For everything in this document, the contact is bhashasetuisl@gmail.com.

An informational site about the project, with a waitlist you can choose to join. There are no accounts, no payments, and nothing to download yet. By using the site you accept these terms; joining the waitlist additionally requires ticking the consent box, which is your explicit consent under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

When you join, we store exactly five things: the name you typed, the email you typed, the role you picked, the time you joined, and the version of these terms you accepted. That last one exists so we can prove what you agreed to if the terms ever change.

We use this for one purpose: emailing you about BhashaSetu, meaning releases, calls for testers, and invitations when sign recording opens. Expect a handful of emails a year. We do not sell, rent, trade, or share the list with anyone, and we will not add you to anything else.

Waitlist entries are stored in Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore), which may keep the data on Google's servers outside India. The database accepts writes only from our server, is closed to public reads, and is accessible to the small team running the project. Google's own security and terms apply to the infrastructure layer.

We use Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which sections get read. It sets cookies and collects device-level identifiers, handled by Google. We do not connect analytics data to waitlist entries, and we do not run ads. If you would rather not be counted, block cookies for this site or use Google's opt-out browser add-on; the site works exactly the same either way.

Email us from the address you signed up with and you can: see the entry we hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted entirely. Deleting your entry is also how you withdraw consent, and you can do it at any time without giving a reason. We act on these requests within 30 days, usually much faster. If a request goes unanswered or feels stuck, escalate to Dhruv Sharma, the person responsible for this data, at dhruv.kccsw@kccitm.edu.in. If you believe we have mishandled your data and we have not fixed it after you contacted us, the DPDP Act gives you the right to complain to the Data Protection Board of India.

We keep your entry until you ask for deletion or until the waitlist itself is retired, whichever comes first. When the waitlist is retired, the list is deleted, not archived or repurposed.

The site, and eventually the software, are provided as is, without warranties of any kind. BhashaSetu is pre-release research software: it is not a certified interpretation service, and it must not be relied on as the sole channel in medical, legal, or emergency situations. When the software ships, the code, weights, and data carry their own open-source licenses (MIT, Apache-2.0, and CC-BY-SA respectively), and those licenses govern their use.

If we change these terms in any way that matters, we bump the version shown below and email the waitlist before the change takes effect. Cosmetic fixes (typos, formatting) do not get an email. The version you accepted stays recorded with your entry either way.

These terms are governed by the laws of India.
